سلام SALAM AI
Salam AI
Detecting Hate Speech. Countering Terrorist Discourse. Confronting Arabophobia and Afrophobia.
Built by Arab Muslim and Black African innovators, for the regions we come from.
Across Africa and the Arab world, online spaces are increasingly used to spread hate speech, terrorist propaganda, and discrimination targeting Arab and Black African communities — often exploiting local languages and cultural context that generic moderation tools overlook entirely.
Salam is HIKMA AI's responsible AI companion, designed and built by a team of Arab Muslim and Black African innovators who understand this reality firsthand. Salam detects hate speech, flags terrorist and extremist discourse, and identifies Arabophobia and Afrophobia — helping communities, platforms, and institutions respond before harm spreads.
Grounded in Hikma (Wisdom), Ubuntu ("I am because we are"), and Teranga (hospitality and welcome), Salam is a solution shaped by lived experience, not built from the outside looking in.

Why Salam Matters
A Solution From Africa and the Arab World, For Africa and the Arab World
Communities across Africa and the Arab world face a layered threat: terrorist recruitment and propaganda, hate speech, and persistent discrimination against Arab and Black African identities — often compounding one another online in ways outside observers rarely see clearly.
Salam was built by people who understand this from the inside. As a team of Arab Muslim and Black African innovators, we designed Salam to recognize what generic, Western-built moderation systems consistently miss: the specific languages, coded terms, and cultural context through which Arabophobia, Afrophobia, hate speech, and extremist discourse actually circulate across these regions.
This is Hikma, Ubuntu, and Teranga in practice — wisdom, shared humanity, and hospitality toward one another. Three distinct philosophical traditions, Arab and African, converging on the same conviction: that dignity and belonging are worth defending, and that the people best equipped to build that defense are the people who live it.
